Water Street Wines, Café and Coffees update March 2010-

The Water Street Restaurant's new dining space is being enjoyed by everyone and it still has the cozy feel.  Our terrific manager Ben has moved on to a new position at Embassy Suites and will be missed.  We are fortunate to have found an excellent replacement in Aaron Hellman, our new General Manager who is also a Chef with West Coast experience and menu ideas galore. Aaron has also worked locally at Embassy Suites, Jonah's and Medici's in Bloomington and we're excited about his ideas. Chris our soup nazi is hard at work as always with weekly soup specials and is enjoying working with Aaron making his fresh and interesting soups, so stop in and try one or give him at 309-966-4246 or email info@waterstreetcoffee.com to be added to his daily soup menu twitter.

The Best Illinois Wines of 2008

Vignoles 2007     Mackinaw Valley Vineyard, Mackinaw, Ill.
One of those wines you just want to smell forever. Vignoles sometimes makes big sweet wines and sometimes light refreshers. This is far from those typical styles. A beeswax and vanilla nose is buttressed by flavors of baked apple, pear, cinnamon, nutmeg, cherry pez, smoke and preserved lemon peel. Crazy, and what is most surprising is the bone-dry finish. Truly a special wine. You will have to travel to the winery to get this vintage, but the trip is worth it.
